They're back. Alpha Bits
The cereal was introduced in 1958, and was taken off the market in 2006. However, Alpha-Bit re-appeared for sale in January 2008 with a new formulation, touting "0% Sugar!" as a "Limited Edition" cereal. The old recipe was reintroduced later in 2008.
Now I don't think I've ever spelled anything with the letters..hehehe
Help me remember the name of this product!

Nabisco really had a winner there,Hey if you know the name, then leave a comment please? I'd wish it returned!

What I learned today or Firefox Deployment 101

I learned how to deploy FireFox using command line switches. Apparently, you only need the installer files from the firefox installer quickly get them before you exit firefox'; install because they get deleted after you hit the "Finish" button. So leave that dialog box open and look under user's temp folder under appdata. The commands are very simple, I just created a batch file for install and uninstall, made a copy of the pref.js file after the browser is configured.. you know like "auto scrol, cache settings, default home page, etc.
The commands to install repository folder\7zS6D.tmp\setup.exe /S
The command to uninstall
"c:\program Files\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe" /S
*Note the /S is case sensitive so you must use uppercase "S"

Will the real TUAW stand out?

As I was checking my RSS feeds in FireFox, I was listening to a WHYY live stream when a report was broadcasted regarding the automakers bailout not being passed in the Senate, at that moment, a correspondent mentions The UAW (formerly known as the Union of Auto Workers, but now encompasses more professions such as Aerospace and Agriculture). It just so happened that I was ready to browse RSS feeds from the other >TUAW (AOL's The Unofficeial Apple Weblog). Conincidence? Serendipity? Or just nonsense. Things like this happen to me quite often.

Brown Rice Vs White Rice
I had brown rice as part of a dish from a Chinese food cart in Center City. Actually it was Shrimp, brown rice with Chinese vegetables (brocooli, carrot, cabbage, maybe some celery)
After I google'd, and according to, this site
..."Since brown rice retains some of the natural oil which may go rancid in few months of usage ( esp opened storage ) . It may be wise to use up the rice in couple of months . Rancid oil generates harmful free radicals inb our blood stream that lead to cell aging in our body...."
These food carts are apart of Philly and you don't get them in other cities like the one up north! Which reminds me of something I've wanted to do..plot the Center City locations of these carts. From memory I know of several locations here goes
18th&Market
18th&JFK
15th&Race
6th&Market
There used to be more locations (13th&Market...
Update: The 7th St location, just south of Chestnut, is still there! It's just a few steps north of Sansom St.)

Hidden & Secret passages...

I've always been very curious about secret passages.. You know like the
kind you'd find in the Abbott & Costello movie..
Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. So Howard mentioned how he leaves the building after the show through a secret door or passage and I recall Wendy saying something similar awhile ago about Frankie Crocker doing the same. How neat.

Safari 3.2.1
From MacWorld
"Safari 3.2.1 comes fast on the heels of Safari 3.2, which Apple released 11 days ago. Safari 3.2 added anti-phishing technology (a feature already built into other Web browsers) as well as fixed several security issues.
At the time of publishing, the Safari was available only via OS X's Software Update mechanism, and was not listed on Apple's Support Downloads page.

MS is desperate to find a winning formula for the mobile market. Intel will have too will need a winning platform as well. If they both had any brains they would spin a joint venture into WINTEL mobile inc and get on with the business of competing with the only mobile platform that has a future (iphone+OSX).
Why goth? It's going to take Software, Hardware, Apps, content and a new processor to compete with the Apple platform. The iphone/ipodtouch is an eco-system the is evolving into a mobile computing environment that either by themselves can't produce.
My feeling is that desktops, laptops and legacy cell phone are on a decline post 2H10. To me Apple is putting together all of the pieces needed to revolutionize computing with the purchase of PA semi and using a full blown OS on the iphone and ipod-touch. I continue to believe by 2H09 we will see the first fruit of the PA semi purchase in a platform that will lower cost and power consumption for both the touch and iphone. With the new iphone, I futher expect apple to sell 100 million in 2009--mostly in the second half."

W.O.D. = "indefatigable"
I heard Barbara Wawa use this on that show The View. And then Robin/Howard etc mentioned it when replaying a BabWawa clip. I guess this is the time I need to exert my literary prowess.. sike.. but here
goes. I have an indefatagble appetite for two brands of ice cream. Friendly's and Blue Bunny
The iPod Nano 3rd Gen
(UPDATE: The nano arrived the next day. Way to go Apple. It could have been under 24 hours..free shipping too!)
(UPDATE2, Nov28,2008: It's been only 1week since I got the nano but I must say that I love it! the battery NEVER gets too low, I can play these built in games all day, listening to music and it won't even go past 1/2 a charge. I'm addicted to Klondike and the MusicQuiz2, but know that i must get my ID tags in shape.. years are off on some songs and the quiz game uses that tag to ask you "what year was this single [playing in the background] released.)
(UPDATE3, Feb1,2009: I use my Nano almost every day. I can't say enough how surprised I am with its battery life. I've only experienced the warning message of "Low Battery, connect to power..." once! On recent morning I noticed it had been playing nonstop for over 12hours (by accident) and yet the battery indicator registered an adequate amount of charge remaining. My only gripe is that I would rather Apple make the clock that's barely visible when the Nano is in Play mode, or when the backlight is off, accessible by a click! In fact, I think there should be a menu item to view or toggle the Clock since it's very large, easy to read and takes up the whole screen. This could, and should replace the barely readable, easily overlooked (even neglectable) clock in the iPod's top indicator bar. One other thing, at 8GB, it can't store my top rated playlists so I have to be creative. Some years from now and if these devices are still selling, I'd want a huge one but flash based like the nano, NOOOO moving parts!

After 2yrs, I now discover...
its aux out! Very odd, but I'm not complaining. To had been so close for the past 2yrs and now finally discovered this trick is
serendipity I guess. I don't have to buy the Sporster IV which had its aux in label on the front bezel..at least on some versions that shipped and sold. I'm more than satisfied that I basically run my own radio station on an unused frequency like 88.7fm. I understand terrestrial radio companies appealed to the US Govt to block these devices since if the satellite radios are tuned to an in use, live radio station, it could jam that station's frequency, but only in a small area where the device is used. Imagine if many people in one neighborhood all used satellite radios with this feature at the same time, and all broadcast their devices on random stations. The result is that all FCC licensed radio broadcasters would be unable to get their programming on their owned frequency, although very powerful, to this theorized neighborhood.

Dreams And Dragons
I miss alot of elementary stuff like the hidden chimney in the cloak rooms and how HUGE tall the doors were. The escape doors we'd play in and that unforgettable scent that was inside the stairwells. Then there was this 4th floor that NObody went up. An urban legend says 'the green lady' was up there. Haha.
There were alot of books I read as a kid that I wish I still possessed. Like the one my brother would always read. It was about this rollercoaster car that got lost. Apparently, it left the amusement park, got scared, lonely and lost, then finally made its way back to the park. The personification of such devices thrilled me. The thought that these things had feelings amazed me as a kid. Or there was this green book about a treehouse. In it, there was a kid who built a treehouse and it described how it was constructed. the pictures have been etched in my memory. Or the freakshow book we found in our basement. That was filled with all types of scary pictures. I tell you, people with body parts growing or appened to the oddest places, or the conjoined twins, or just down right scary to described. I think I'm getting sick just thinking about them .I really remember a pair of legs protrudding from a girl's stomach.
UPDATE: researched some more online and found the author of "Gnomes and Knots". According to Google & Amazon, the author is Judith Putterman. The books series was printed in 1980. That would seem about right as I was in the 6th grade durung the 1982-1983 school year. So I was right about the "Gnomes and Knots" title. The Tales and Tigers came to me in my dream last night (wed 11/12/08). I was in the 6th grade when our small advanced group of students were reading this 7th grade level book. The rest of the glass I believe was reading "Tales and Tigers" or something like that

link on their site that stated watch the game Live. I clicked on it and
VOILA.. the World Series, game 2 was playing LIVE. and there were like
4 different camera angles. Somehow, I was able to save a clip of the
broadcast. Now don't ask me how, I just was able to save the broadcast.
After awhile, I left and returned to my Mac and saw the Safari "Quit
Unexpectedly" oh well. can't win em all. But in all, I think I have a
clip of like 5 minutes of game 2. Later I checked out the site on my
WinXP machine and guess what, there was a blocked screen that gave
options to BUY the worl d series package. I was like, no way, why on my
Mac could I watch the game FOR FREE?
Well if that's another reason to use Macs more than Windows, THAT WAS

Trip to the market
What possessed me to do this? Well, I am in need of trash bags, yeah, been using those cheapo plastic grocery bags as a stop gap measure until I would buy those 30 gal types. My nose seems to bleed every time I buy them, the prices for trash bags are ridiculous,so here I am recording what I paid for, where and quantity. This time it was Shoprite, ala Wakefern Corporation. I got the store brand 10 bags for $1.50. That was the sale price, now they had a big box of 40 for $6, well that's the same as the 10bags x 4 so I just got a couple of the 10box. I also got the following
Friendly's "Classic Chocolate" Ice Cream (1.75qt) x 2 @ $2.99
Crest Multicare Whitening Toothpaste 6.2oz x 2 @ $1.99 on sale reg. $3.29
Freihofer's 100% Whole Wheat bread 24oz @ $1.79 (orig. $2.38)
1 cucumber @ $0.79ea
1 green pepper @ 1.49/lb = $0.88
1 pack Italian Sweet Sausage w/ Broccoli Rabe (store packed, 3lg links) @ $2.99/lb = $2.24
Trix cereal = $1.97 (10.7oz box ..... hmm, wasn't this just 12oz recently.. umm hmm I see what you're going General Mills!)
3 Plum tomatoes @ 1.69/lb = $1.27
Organic Valley 1/2 gal organic fat free milk = $3.99!!! (too expensive, I should've opted for the Stonyfield Farm which was like $3.79. and that's gotten expensive, both these were around $3.49 and would be on sale for $3.29 occasionally. Although, if yo go to any other market, the Organic Valley 1/2 gals are over $4.
Incidentally, 24pks of bottled water of polad spring are going for $3.99 now. So the summer prices of $3.33-$3.88 are probably over. I'll keep us posted though.
10/8/08

Then there are the Gallons of water. I usually purchase several gallons each week. My favorite brand comes from SuperFresh, the "America's Choice" brand which now retails for approx. $0.79 per gallon. I also like Pocono Springs ~ $0.89 from Pathmark or Shoprite. When I'm in a pinch, I'll buy a gallon from Rite Aid and that usually is $1.19 per gallon. I remember last year, prices for these 24packs were over $4 and as cheap as $3.99.
