Safari 3.2.1

Another upgrade I just performed the other day.

From MacWorld

"Safari 3.2.1 comes fast on the heels of Safari 3.2, which Apple released 11 days ago. Safari 3.2 added anti-phishing technology (a feature already built into other Web browsers) as well as fixed several security issues.

At the time of publishing, the Safari was available only via OS X's Software Update mechanism, and was not listed on Apple's Support Downloads page.

MS is desperate to find a winning formula for the mobile market. Intel will have too will need a winning platform as well. If they both had any brains they would spin a joint venture into WINTEL mobile inc and get on with the business of competing with the only mobile platform that has a future (iphone+OSX).
Why goth? It's going to take Software, Hardware, Apps, content and a new processor to compete with the Apple platform. The iphone/ipodtouch is an eco-system the is evolving into a mobile computing environment that either by themselves can't produce.
My feeling is that desktops, laptops and legacy cell phone are on a decline post 2H10. To me Apple is putting together all of the pieces needed to revolutionize computing with the purchase of PA semi and using a full blown OS on the iphone and ipod-touch. I continue to believe by 2H09 we will see the first fruit of the PA semi purchase in a platform that will lower cost and power consumption for both the touch and iphone. With the new iphone, I futher expect apple to sell 100 million in 2009--mostly in the second half."

Fuel prices are dropping

I think I paid 2.34/gal in PA. That's not bad considering a few weeks ago I paid about the same amount in NJ. I can only imagine what NJ's gas prices must be today.

Crock pot Beef Roast and Veggies

Sundays dinner & Mondays leftovers
From blogger Real Mom Kitchen Thank you. I especially liked the tip to cook the veggies for a few minutes prior to adding to the Crock-Pot®

Update: for monday's dinner, made mashed potatoes using red potatoes, butter, organic nonfat milk, basil, parsley, garlic and salt.

Anita.. Can you "Lead Me Into Love?"

Why??...Winter wants to arrive early!!

Its cold. It's like we're getting winter weather before the winter season begins. It's only the 3rd week of November. A minor snow storm yesterday, temps in the 20ºs. Yikes. It's time to start the heater, I usually don't start it til December 2nd week.

W.O.D. = "indefatigable"

meaning: to not ever get tired

I heard Barbara Wawa use this on that show The View. And then Robin/Howard etc mentioned it when replaying a BabWawa clip. I guess this is the time I need to exert my literary prowess.. sike.. but here
goes. I have an indefatagble appetite for two brands of ice cream. Friendly's and Blue Bunny

The iPod Nano 3rd Gen

Last night was the last draw. I've had enough of my 30gb 5.5 gen iPod so like I told youz yesterday, I want to replace it with a fatboy nano; I just purchased one from Apple and it should arrive just before Thanksgiving. I'll keep us posted.

(UPDATE: The nano arrived the next day. Way to go Apple. It could have been under 24 hours..free shipping too!)

(UPDATE2, Nov28,2008: It's been only 1week since I got the nano but I must say that I love it! the battery NEVER gets too low, I can play these built in games all day, listening to music and it won't even go past 1/2 a charge. I'm addicted to Klondike and the MusicQuiz2, but know that i must get my ID tags in shape.. years are off on some songs and the quiz game uses that tag to ask you "what year was this single [playing in the background] released.)

(UPDATE3, Feb1,2009: I use my Nano almost every day. I can't say enough how surprised I am with its battery life. I've only experienced the warning message of "Low Battery, connect to power..." once! On recent morning I noticed it had been playing nonstop for over 12hours (by accident) and yet the battery indicator registered an adequate amount of charge remaining. My only gripe is that I would rather Apple make the clock that's barely visible when the Nano is in Play mode, or when the backlight is off, accessible by a click! In fact, I think there should be a menu item to view or toggle the Clock since it's very large, easy to read and takes up the whole screen. This could, and should replace the barely readable, easily overlooked (even neglectable) clock in the iPod's top indicator bar. One other thing, at 8GB, it can't store my top rated playlists so I have to be creative. Some years from now and if these devices are still selling, I'd want a huge one but flash based like the nano, NOOOO moving parts!

Ugh.. After 2yrs my iPod is shot

My 30gb 5.5 Gen needs replacing. It's shutting down under 1hr with a FULL charge. I can only use it really with a dock of speaker accessory. It's time for a new FLASH BASED model, like the iPod nano

She knows how to "Bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan"

This may be retro but the jingle still remained in memory after all these years.

I need to learn how to WOL for anything

Philly-ese: "wodder"

Speak like Philly locals and learn what wooder is.

Netmasks and patterns part 2

Here's another cheat sheet. Acutally, it's pretty easy to convert from
binary to decimal. I learned all that way back in public school.
Take for example 20. Write out 20 "1"s and the rest, 12 "0"s and you
have what your netmask is in binary, converting is a cinch!

After 2yrs, I now discover...

This Sirius Sportster radio is capable of receiving aux in, by way of
its aux out! Very odd, but I'm not complaining. To had been so close for the past 2yrs and now finally discovered this trick is
serendipity I guess. I don't have to buy the Sporster IV which had its aux in label on the front bezel..at least on some versions that shipped and sold. I'm more than satisfied that I basically run my own radio station on an unused frequency like 88.7fm. I understand terrestrial radio companies appealed to the US Govt to block these devices since if the satellite radios are tuned to an in use, live radio station, it could jam that station's frequency, but only in a small area where the device is used. Imagine if many people in one neighborhood all used satellite radios with this feature at the same time, and all broadcast their devices on random stations. The result is that all FCC licensed radio broadcasters would be unable to get their programming on their owned frequency, although very powerful, to this theorized neighborhood.

Today's dinner

Crock Pot Garlic Mashed Potatoes from recipezaar and
Crock Pot Roasted Lemon Chicken from davita.com I added steamed green beans. Using the small crockpot for the mashed potatoes

Thanks Circuit City

I know you're going through very tough times lately..well actually for quite some time. Your stock prices is about to be delisted, you've announced the close of over 150 stores. Then last week, you filed bankruptcy, Chapter 11. But you saw the need in me and took back my almost 1mo old purchase. I received a full refund. Thanks CC, I was always your fan back then and am still now, provided you stay open in my region.

iTunes dares you to throw number at it...

If you adjust the start/stop times of a trackby putting in some random
number NOT in minute:second format, iTunes will adjust. Example. I
place 301 in the stop time box, iTunes will convert that into
minutes:seconds. .

FREE FREE FREE!!!

The Consumer is always right.. That adage has been around for ever and it couldn't be more true the other day when I was visiting the local ShopRite. I'm getting my wonted bread "Arnold's 100% Whole Wheat". As I walk the aisle, the sign read "Arnold 100% whole wheat $1.99"  I grab it..checking out, the price came to $3.99.. Immediately, I call a rep over to deal with the price difference. They walk the aisles, grab the sign and come back. I know most price policies state that if a product rings up on the electronice register, the customer gets that item free. I was rewarded with a FREE loaf of bread. That made my day.

Dreams And Dragons

Remembering these series of scholastic books I had in the 6th grade. do you remember them? I recall most folks were in the "Dreams and Dragons" and I think that book was red. My group, the elite students, no kidding were on a purple book, I wish I remembered the name.. like "Gnomes and Knots"? and "Tales and Tigers" Or something like that. Then there was a green book.

I miss alot of elementary stuff like the hidden chimney in the cloak rooms and how HUGE tall the doors were. The escape doors we'd play in and that unforgettable scent that was inside the stairwells. Then there was this 4th floor that NObody went up. An urban legend says 'the green lady' was up there. Haha.

There were alot of books I read as a kid that I wish I still possessed. Like the one my brother would always read. It was about this rollercoaster car that got lost. Apparently, it left the amusement park, got scared, lonely and lost, then finally made its way back to the park. The personification of such devices thrilled me. The thought that these things had feelings amazed me as a kid. Or there was this green book about a treehouse. In it, there was a kid who built a treehouse and it described how it was constructed. the pictures have been etched in my memory. Or the freakshow book we found in our basement. That was filled with all types of scary pictures. I tell you, people with body parts growing or appened to the oddest places, or the conjoined twins, or just down right scary to described. I think I'm getting sick just thinking about them .I really remember a pair of legs protrudding from a girl's stomach.

UPDATE: researched some more online and found the author of "Gnomes and Knots". According to Google & Amazon, the author is Judith Putterman. The books series was printed in 1980. That would seem about right as I was in the 6th grade durung the 1982-1983 school year. So I was right about the "Gnomes and Knots" title. The Tales and Tigers came to me in my dream last night (wed 11/12/08). I was in the 6th grade when our small advanced group of students were reading this 7th grade level book. The rest of the glass I believe was reading "Tales and Tigers" or something like that

Petro Prices

Are a falling. I paid $2.36 +9/10 per gallon of premium at the Sunoco in NJ. NJ is the best for gas prices in this tri-state region.

Backup part 2

OS X backup worked great. Can't believe it was this easy.
1) Quit all apps except Disk Utility.
2) Backup the old HD using Disk Utility
3) Unmount the old HD
4) Rename the new HD to the old HD's name
5) Test using apps, like iTunes library

I'll guess I'll use the old HD for a backup, maybe time machine if I have enough space.

iTunes 8.. I think it's time for a name change

See how iTunes, now up to version 8, has changed over time. I use only the components on the left. Real fanpeople of apple probably use the right. If I stare at the left picture, the colores remind me of a toy I had as a kid.

I saw this huge 6-story piñata at Broad & Washington recently. Apparently, Carnival Cruise Lines is trying to break a Guinness® World Record.. More after the breaks...carnival press release.
