New Safari plugin

I like flash but I hate it too. This plugin ClickToFlash is what I desperately wanted for Safari. I've enjoyed "FlashBlock" on Firefox for ages. Now we can have the same functionality on Safari (with a bit more added features) as we do with Firefox.

Fascination over ROBOTS

These Eporo robots were featured at the CEATEC show in Japan the other day. They're better than last year's model so take a look. I seem to be fascinated over them.

Apple Products are in demand!

It's an awful thing and it should tell Apple that too much exposure isn't so great after all. Come to think of it, I was just at that store say a month ago and I noticed that on the front doors, one was glass, the other wood painted black, as if it was being replaced. Today I see on the news, both doors obviously are being replaced. I'd like to know if last month's door replacement was a result of theft or general maintenance.

Watch as these thieves break into one of our local Apple stores. This is in Marlton, NJ at The Promenade at Sagemore"

Flash problems on websites

Flash is such a pain when it loads automatically on websites. I hate that if you try using the tab key, the flash component responds to it and you can't break out of the flash object. Usually it's flash videos (like youtube). There needs to be a method to break out of the flash object and allow tabs to normally work within with web browser. I do use Firefox with FlashBlock extension so the objects won't load automatically and I love it, yet when I enable the flash object, the tab feature is overtaken by flash!

It's hard blogging

I see now why many people start blogging only to give it up some time later. It's very difficult to blog unless you're in front of a computer all day or have the time and it's your full time job. I just have little interest to do this much longer. I've read that one should keep focus on a few topics, but that wasn't my idea when I started blogging 2yrs ago. I just wanted an online journal to write notes to here and there and hopefully it would matter not only to me but to someone. I'm not even sure why I'm writing this, I guess it's a rant against blogging. I do not twitter, myspace, facebook or subscribe to other social websites. I simply don't have the time, nor interest to do so. Maybe it's my age, for over 20yrs I've been starting at a computer screen and now I just want to flee them.

Wendy Leaves Radio

"Damn Damn Damn!!!!"
That's how Florida felt and yelled on Good Times when James had died.
Well it's official, Wendy Williams is leaving the airwaves to concentrate on her new TV Show. I guess I knew this was coming as some of my posts highlighted how she was off the air or her show wasn't the same after last year's debacles. I wish you the best Wendy, but now I don't have to record your radio show and I'm not a TV viewer so until you come back to radio, (perhaps on Satellite Radio, ala Howard Stern) it looks like my daily time with you is over. I need Goose to key the sad music. More from the NY Times article

Next to go under

I have a hunch, a sixth sense that Bed Bath and Beyond is not going to make it much longer. To me, this store is primed to go under. Why? Well the products you find there aren't essential enough that you only have to shop there. There are dozens of competing stores that may not have everything they sell, but they sell most things you'd want to buy. Another reason is these unnecessary coupons they send you all the time. It was fun maybe like 6yrs ago, now it's a pain to get them. I rip them up immediately now because I have a stash full of old ones AND BB&B takes expired coupons without question. Time will tell, I just think they're next.

Cool in the Summer

So far I must say that this summer isn't really hot. I know it's only the 1st week of July yet it really hasn't been too hot at all. In fact, at nights you really don't need a fan or air conditioners running. Open a window and let the cool breeze in I say. Like tonight it's just after midnight and a cool breeze is blowing that you don't need to waste electricity. I feel for those who are running the a/c because if you open a window, you'll see there really is no need to run them at nights. During the day, we've reached only the 80s. When it's 90+ for days in a row, then I'll know that summer is here. Also, we've had alot of rain the past month.

Annoying Mac OS X features

I'm not really a fan of certain Finder components. For one, if you attached an external hard drive and create a alias on the side bar and turn off the item, the aliases automatically disappear! I hope the Apple fixes this in the next release of OS X "Snow Leopard" I can see if the aliases turn into a big ? question mark and if the external drive is reconnected, Finder should automatically restore the hard drive icon or alias.

Dreams Dreams Dreams

I've been having kinda vivid and lucid dreams lately. Usually I'm flying and making myself fly. The other night, I was doing a Superman move, flying sideways. Dreams are something, I've done some searching online and found out that many people that dream cannot move fast in their dreams. This happened to me, I know I was elevated, in air flying, but I was probably was moving as fast as one of those Segways.

"I Want You"

Watch this 'rare' footage of Marvin Gaye smoothly singing "I Want You"
To me it must have been a jam session. I'm very partial to the single and I own like 10 versions of the single in my iTunes library. I don't know how rare this footage is, since it's available on the net but anyhow, here it is:

UPDATE: It's 4/14/2010 and I see that imeem is now part of myspace so this video no longer works so here's a longer clip from youtube

Weather today feels..

..like Fall! I guess it's (Autumn) my favorite time of the year. We can fast forward, skipping spring and summer. If this were Oct or Nov I'd be very happy. The way the sun stood in the sky, the way the cool wind blew just reminded me of a fall day.

WHY? WBLS, WHY?

You changed streaming servers recently (last week) and now I can't seem to work the stream. It bombs out after so many minutes and I have to click Play to restart it. Problem is, if I'm not around to click then I'll miss out on hours of the broadcast.
Why would you do this and do this unannounced? I know a couple of years ago, there was this report that in 2009 streaming would end because it would become too expensive. Now that you've found an inexpensive way to stream your broadcast, WHY have you made accessing the stream too $@#$# difficult. For example, up until last week, I was able to just click on a shortcut link that opens up the stream player, and the stream would start. Now I have to click that and click "PLAY"
Realize that we online listeners are part of your audience. WBLS, you're going backwards in a day where accessibility means easy and seamless access for every user. You're making your listeners go through obstacle after obstacle just to hear your station. I'd rather NOT listen anymore if I have to add another unnecessary step just to hear the stream. Do us a favor and restore that service so that we can play the station using a 1 step process please. 2 step process is so internet 1.0, aka 1994.

"Unannounced switch" OR "WBLS, Shame on you!"

Today I tried to access WBLS' online stream via a bookmark. Unfortuntely, the link failed. Going to the website I found that cliking on Listen Live, opens a different URL than what my bookmark has.

To WBLS: This is probably the 5th time you've switched streaming servers over the past few years. In this techy age, please do your best to update your listeners on your website and/or email prior to making a switch of a technical nature. Now you have listeners all over the world. I hear callers call in from California to the Armed forces who's only link to you could very well be a bookmark. This is just my advice; I hope you take it.

Tall, Talented and Terrific: The TEMPTIN' TEMPTATIONS

I wasn't around during the time of their heyday, but the Temptations were an incredible group. Song after song, I just can't get enough. Some of my favorites are Girl, Why You Wanna Make Me Blue, I'm Losing You, The Girl's Alright With Me, All I Need (possibly my favorite Temps song), Get Ready, Please Return Your Love to Me.
Check this clip out on youtube of this wonderful performance. Makes you wish you were there to see them live.

Soup with ramen noodles?

Yes. That's my shortcut method of adding noodles to a home brewed soup broth. I may have said I didn't have any luck making noodles at home so I found out that you can substitute them with ramen noodles, I happen to like the Top Ramen brand, sans the flavor packet and add that to your own broth. I can't begin to say how much of a delight this is for me. Instead of waiting for the noodles to cook and drain and all that, I just took a bag of noodles from the pack, dropped it in the boiling broth and let it cook for a couple of minutes and that's it!

SuperFresh this week

What a great sale this week. My favorite, Blue Bunny is on sale for $3.24 per 1.75qt. This is great since last week it was the sister supermarket in Pathmark which offered the same product for $3.50. Starting to notice that sale prices at Pathmark are always more expensive than SuperFresh. I wonder why? Nevertheless, I'll take the sale price instead of shelling out $6.49 at regular price, which just went up a few months ago from $5.99. I'm always watching these prices.

Financial meltdown

The US government must be more technically sound than ever before. Imagine how money is being moved around electronically like never before and what if applications are written to secretly move money from account to account without the victims knowing about it. It just seems too easy in todays highly technical world that this isn't happening somewhere, somehow, someway. The government should have in place a strict policy which thoroughy, exhaustively checks every application that's released to the public for potential security breaches

Thanks Pathmark

Pathmark does it again. This week's they have my favorite Blue Bunny ice cream on sale for $3.50 per 1.75 quarts. I would like to say 1/2 gallon but NOOOOOO.. these companies decided a few years ago (2005?) to reduce the quantity, yet still sell the product for the same amount. I'm going to write other supermarket chains like ShopRite, Acme, Fresh Grocer, Safeway, Thriftway and petition them to not only start selling Blue Bunny, but sell my favorite flavor. I know Fresh Grocer sells Blue Bunny, but my flavor is never available in their stores. Blue Bunny is great and clearly their product is much much better than that other company I don't even want to mention because I no longer support them after they DESTROYED a great product. Oh what the heck.. BREYER'S!!! aka GOOD HUMOR!!! aka UNILEVER!!! Yes your product now sucks after adding an awful ingredient "tara gum" to the products a few years ago. Now I'd bet tara gum is just a cheap filler which is NOT needed and was NOT used prior to 2005 in the All Natural flavors? Philadelphia used to be the home to Breyer's and I believe this is where Breyer's was founded. I know Kraft used to own the brand years ago. I'd better stop ranting because I'm getting upset that once a great product has no turned to an awful one. Things just ain't the same.

Winners of Superbowl XLIII: The Pittsburgh Steelers

As predicted earlier, the Steelers won Superbowl XLIII. It was an incredible game, one that was very competitive until the very end. Santonio Holmes delivered on that final drive as well as Steelers' offensive line and Big Ben. It's interesting to study how dominant wide receivers have become in Superbowls of recent years. Thinking of those like Deion Branch, Hines Ward, Santonio Holmes, David Tyree, Reggie Wayne, Mushin Muhammad, Terrell Owens, Wes Welker are all Wide Receivers.
I have to say that this catch by Santonio Holmes is probably the best TD catch I've ever seen in a Superbowl. It's as if Pittsburgh was showing the world the hey, the Cardinals may have their Larry Fitzgerald AND Anquan Boldin, BUT we have our own SANTONIO!! And sorry to the DB who'll go down in history as getting burnt on that last play. It's a photo that'll be viewed oh.. just billions of times..lol... Well at least on this play, he was much closer. Imagine if the touchdown was scored on the previous play where the DBs were really burnt, and yet Santonio couldn't make that catch on the other side of the endzone.

Jessica Simpson.. you look fine in my book!

I don't see what the deal is. Jessica Simpson is WAAYY healther than most Americans. This obsession with waif thin women the entertainment industy forces down are throats is hardly attainable for the average American. stop it already! Jess, ain't nuthin wrong with your feminine shapes and features. Read more after the break from popsugar She was performing for a radio station in Florida January 2009.

Tonight, when looking up in the sky westward, I saw a cresent moon and a bright star just to the south and east of it. Being curious, I had to search online to ascertain what could it have been. A planet I felt initially. Was I correct?

According to Space.com's sky calendar for Jan. 29-30, 2009.

Moon/Venus, 6:12 a.m.

The thin Crescent Moon passes north of Venus at about 6 a.m. on Friday, but neither object will visible at that time for North American or European observers. Instead, look to the western heavens just as it gets dark on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Artie Lange.. bottom of the barrel

Artie Lange article in Rolling Stone. Yes, Artie you do have a face for radio. You're still the man, but what a mess you are now. As my elementary school teacher would say "You'd better get yourself together!"

What were you thinking!!

Philadelphia's WRNB 107.9 FM has changed formats recently. The new slogan is something like "...playing the 90s and Today's music."

ARE YOU SERIOUS WRNB (RADIO ONE)?!?!?!? What about all the artists who span DECADES like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, The Isley Brothers. I can go on and on. Are you telling me that you'll no longer play these artists? If that's the case, then I'm sticking with 'DAS-FM. WRNB, if you wanted to change formats, why not take some hints from WBLS?

Where is WENDY!??

She did say she'd be off this week at some convention in Las Vegas, NV I'm going through Wendy withdrawal!! If this @$#$ don't get her butt back to NYC soon and get on air to broadcast the syndicated show!! We miss and need you Wendy!! I'm hoping she returns tomorrow. I know that sometimes when she takes off mulitple days, she returns on Thursdays.. However, I recall her saying Friday she'd be back on the air. But Wendy come on, you out in Vegas and you know as well as I do, that they have the 'switch' to beam your voice all over the airwaves like you did when visiting Los Angeles a year ago or even those other cirites. Remember when you used to come to Philly to Power99 and broadcast your show while in town. We need that again like this past mon, tues and today. HEY!.

HEY!

(Update: I heard Jasmine say today that Wendy to be in on Friday.)

The weather here

You know, it's not really that bad in the Winter here in Philly. It could be much much worse and yet I don't mind the cold air. We've only had about 2" to 3" of snow during the last mini storm last week. Overall I bet it's been under 6"

One thing I always know about this time of the year, even after a snow storm, the sun seems to shine so brightly the next days. Maybe it's the reflection of the snow, but I believe it's also an indicator that Spring is on its way.

1/22/09

0-2

I really was way off on my predictions this past weekend. Eagles and Ravens (the road teams) lost. Well at least it says that Home teams do have and advantage in the Conference Championship games. Sorry Cardinals, you're to be defeathered when the Steelers whoop dat behind come Superbowl Sunday Feb 1, 2009

His name is "Paw Rugg" from the Hillybilly Bears cartoons that ran in the 60s. And reran every decade since. Back in the day, I laughed whenever "the mumbler" spoke. Here's a clip on youtube.

Conference Championship Weekend

This is it. The last 4 teams that remain are still in the running to go to the big dance Superbowl XLIII. Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers , Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals have achieved what 28 other teams couldn't by reaching the Confence Championship. This moment is bittersweet for me, of couse I'm excited the Eagles are still in the competition, but overall, the game is football. This is the final weekend of multiple games to watch and that pretty much means that me sitting on a couch for most day on Sundays is at its end.... for this season :). I may have said earlier that I live not for the regular season, but the PLAYOFFS.

Just who will win the AFC & NFC conference championships? My predictions are as follows.. But let's recap first.. Postseason or Playoffs Week 1, I was 4-0. Week 2 I was 3-1, this week I plan to be 2-0!! There's alot of talk about an all Pennsylvania Superbowl, however, I don't think that's likely. With that written, I predict Baltimore will again win on the road at Pittsburgh and Philadelphia to win on the road at Arizona. That's it.

PHL v AZ (PHL wins by at least 2 touchdowns. I say 31-17)
BAL v PIT (BAL wins by a small margin. I say 14-9)

Let the games begin.

Pathmark, you'll be seeing me alot this week

Not only is my favorite brand of ice cream on sale at Pathmark but they're offering a 24pack of Nestle Pure Life for $2.98!! Wow.. now that's the best price yet for the multi-pack of bottled waterbottled water, prices, ice cream

Divisional Playoffs Weekend (3-1)

My predictions resulted in 75% correct. Wow! 3 teams win on the ROAD! As expected, I was correct with the two road wins in BAL and PHL, I had no idea that AZ would beat CAR on the road. What an upset! This is why they play the game.

1/8/09

Picks for NFL Divisionals Weekend 2009

Here goes. Again, 2 teams on the road, 2 home wins.

Baltimore will win on the road vs Tennessee in a close, low scoring game (13-9)
Philadelphia will win on the road vs New York (24-17)
Pittsburgh easily wins at home versus San Diego (31-20)
Carolina easily wins at home versus Arizona (38-27)

1/5/09

4-0!!!

I was 4-0 this weekend in NFL Wildcard weekends, see my previous post. Again, the old saying is true. You must WIN on the ROAD in the PLAYOFFS. Because of the defense teams that remain, Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles have the most talent to win on the road next week. I don't see the Arizona Cardinals going into Carolina and winning, nor do I see San Diego doing the same at Pitt. The AFC is a tossup but I feel that Baltimore may win and Pittsburgh to advance, while the NFC I think it will be Philadelphia and Carolina. Again, two road wins (BAL & PHL) and two home (PIT & CAR). Again I'm feeling that 1 from each conference will win on the road, just like last Wild Card Weekend (BAL & PHL).

More soup.. This time Tofu Miso Soup

Bought some packs of Instant Tofu Miso Soup by Kikkoman. First time trying and it's not that bad. I added more water than the instructions call for 2/3 cup just doesn't seem like enough water. I added about 10oz. It's good and light and very easy to make. I'm at the office today so I just used the hot water dispenser from a water cooler. The broth has bits of tofu and seaweed kelp. The kelp looks like it grew!! But it most likely expanded after being combined with the hot water. If I made this at home, I'd just use the broth for the basis of my homemade soup and I'd add shrimp, carrots, maybe even broccoli florets. here's an article from SFGate ->..after the break..

Picks for NFL Wilcard Weekend 2009

My picks for Wildcard Weekend 2009
(in order of game time)

Sat
ATL v AZ (AZ home)
IND v SD (SD home)

Sun
BAL v MIA (BAL on the road)
PHL v MIN (PHL on the road)

(My rule is this: you must WIN on the road to be successful in the playoffs..IND can do it, but won't. PHL and BAL can do it. I don't think ATL can do it on the road especially versus a high passing team in the Cardinals. To wrap up, there's usually two home wins and two road wins during wild card weekend...usually that is. The Divisional round is usually where Home teams dominate. In addition, I feel the winner of Superbowl XLIII will be an east coast team,,, east of the Mississippi River that is.

1/1/09

The cornerback

The final line of defense, the most speed, the most versatile. The cornerback. I've always respected the talent of defensive backs, They're the ones who must be in elite physical condition to play in the NFL. No slackers allowed. Some former and current players I respect are Bobby Taylor, Troy Vincent, Deion Sanders, Ty Law ("We put it on them", SBXXXVI), Eric Allen, Al Harris, Charles Woodson, Asante Samuel, Fred Smoot and of course Quentin Jammer who's gotta have the best name for a defensive back. "Jammer" will get a workout this Saturday night, 8pm EST when the Indianapolis Colts visit during Wilcard weekend. However, I think the Chargers can score more points than the Colts because they have both threats in a running and passing game. I'm calling the Bolts... 37-31.
