Tonight, when looking up in the sky westward, I saw a cresent moon and a bright star just to the south and east of it. Being curious, I had to search online to ascertain what could it have been. A planet I felt initially. Was I correct?

According to Space.com's sky calendar for Jan. 29-30, 2009.

Moon/Venus, 6:12 a.m.

The thin Crescent Moon passes north of Venus at about 6 a.m. on Friday, but neither object will visible at that time for North American or European observers. Instead, look to the western heavens just as it gets dark on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Artie Lange.. bottom of the barrel

Artie Lange article in Rolling Stone. Yes, Artie you do have a face for radio. You're still the man, but what a mess you are now. As my elementary school teacher would say "You'd better get yourself together!"

What were you thinking!!

Philadelphia's WRNB 107.9 FM has changed formats recently. The new slogan is something like "...playing the 90s and Today's music."

ARE YOU SERIOUS WRNB (RADIO ONE)?!?!?!? What about all the artists who span DECADES like Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, The Isley Brothers. I can go on and on. Are you telling me that you'll no longer play these artists? If that's the case, then I'm sticking with 'DAS-FM. WRNB, if you wanted to change formats, why not take some hints from WBLS?

Where is WENDY!??

She did say she'd be off this week at some convention in Las Vegas, NV I'm going through Wendy withdrawal!! If this @$#$ don't get her butt back to NYC soon and get on air to broadcast the syndicated show!! We miss and need you Wendy!! I'm hoping she returns tomorrow. I know that sometimes when she takes off mulitple days, she returns on Thursdays.. However, I recall her saying Friday she'd be back on the air. But Wendy come on, you out in Vegas and you know as well as I do, that they have the 'switch' to beam your voice all over the airwaves like you did when visiting Los Angeles a year ago or even those other cirites. Remember when you used to come to Philly to Power99 and broadcast your show while in town. We need that again like this past mon, tues and today. HEY!.

HEY!

(Update: I heard Jasmine say today that Wendy to be in on Friday.)

The weather here

You know, it's not really that bad in the Winter here in Philly. It could be much much worse and yet I don't mind the cold air. We've only had about 2" to 3" of snow during the last mini storm last week. Overall I bet it's been under 6"

One thing I always know about this time of the year, even after a snow storm, the sun seems to shine so brightly the next days. Maybe it's the reflection of the snow, but I believe it's also an indicator that Spring is on its way.

0-2

I really was way off on my predictions this past weekend. Eagles and Ravens (the road teams) lost. Well at least it says that Home teams do have and advantage in the Conference Championship games. Sorry Cardinals, you're to be defeathered when the Steelers whoop dat behind come Superbowl Sunday Feb 1, 2009

His name is "Paw Rugg" from the Hillybilly Bears cartoons that ran in the 60s. And reran every decade since. Back in the day, I laughed whenever "the mumbler" spoke. Here's a clip on youtube.

Conference Championship Weekend

This is it. The last 4 teams that remain are still in the running to go to the big dance Superbowl XLIII. Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers , Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals have achieved what 28 other teams couldn't by reaching the Confence Championship. This moment is bittersweet for me, of couse I'm excited the Eagles are still in the competition, but overall, the game is football. This is the final weekend of multiple games to watch and that pretty much means that me sitting on a couch for most day on Sundays is at its end.... for this season :). I may have said earlier that I live not for the regular season, but the PLAYOFFS.

Just who will win the AFC & NFC conference championships? My predictions are as follows.. But let's recap first.. Postseason or Playoffs Week 1, I was 4-0. Week 2 I was 3-1, this week I plan to be 2-0!! There's alot of talk about an all Pennsylvania Superbowl, however, I don't think that's likely. With that written, I predict Baltimore will again win on the road at Pittsburgh and Philadelphia to win on the road at Arizona. That's it.

PHL v AZ (PHL wins by at least 2 touchdowns. I say 31-17)
BAL v PIT (BAL wins by a small margin. I say 14-9)

Let the games begin.

Pathmark, you'll be seeing me alot this week

Not only is my favorite brand of ice cream on sale at Pathmark but they're offering a 24pack of Nestle Pure Life for $2.98!! Wow.. now that's the best price yet for the multi-pack of bottled waterbottled water, prices, ice cream

Divisional Playoffs Weekend (3-1)

My predictions resulted in 75% correct. Wow! 3 teams win on the ROAD! As expected, I was correct with the two road wins in BAL and PHL, I had no idea that AZ would beat CAR on the road. What an upset! This is why they play the game.

Picks for NFL Divisionals Weekend 2009

Here goes. Again, 2 teams on the road, 2 home wins.

Baltimore will win on the road vs Tennessee in a close, low scoring game (13-9)
Philadelphia will win on the road vs New York (24-17)
Pittsburgh easily wins at home versus San Diego (31-20)
Carolina easily wins at home versus Arizona (38-27)

4-0!!!

I was 4-0 this weekend in NFL Wildcard weekends, see my previous post. Again, the old saying is true. You must WIN on the ROAD in the PLAYOFFS. Because of the defense teams that remain, Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles have the most talent to win on the road next week. I don't see the Arizona Cardinals going into Carolina and winning, nor do I see San Diego doing the same at Pitt. The AFC is a tossup but I feel that Baltimore may win and Pittsburgh to advance, while the NFC I think it will be Philadelphia and Carolina. Again, two road wins (BAL & PHL) and two home (PIT & CAR). Again I'm feeling that 1 from each conference will win on the road, just like last Wild Card Weekend (BAL & PHL).

More soup.. This time Tofu Miso Soup

Bought some packs of Instant Tofu Miso Soup by Kikkoman. First time trying and it's not that bad. I added more water than the instructions call for 2/3 cup just doesn't seem like enough water. I added about 10oz. It's good and light and very easy to make. I'm at the office today so I just used the hot water dispenser from a water cooler. The broth has bits of tofu and seaweed kelp. The kelp looks like it grew!! But it most likely expanded after being combined with the hot water. If I made this at home, I'd just use the broth for the basis of my homemade soup and I'd add shrimp, carrots, maybe even broccoli florets. here's an article from SFGate ->..after the break..

Picks for NFL Wilcard Weekend 2009

My picks for Wildcard Weekend 2009
(in order of game time)

Sat
ATL v AZ (AZ home)
IND v SD (SD home)

Sun
BAL v MIA (BAL on the road)
PHL v MIN (PHL on the road)

(My rule is this: you must WIN on the road to be successful in the playoffs..IND can do it, but won't. PHL and BAL can do it. I don't think ATL can do it on the road especially versus a high passing team in the Cardinals. To wrap up, there's usually two home wins and two road wins during wild card weekend...usually that is. The Divisional round is usually where Home teams dominate. In addition, I feel the winner of Superbowl XLIII will be an east coast team,,, east of the Mississippi River that is.

The cornerback

The final line of defense, the most speed, the most versatile. The cornerback. I've always respected the talent of defensive backs, They're the ones who must be in elite physical condition to play in the NFL. No slackers allowed. Some former and current players I respect are Bobby Taylor, Troy Vincent, Deion Sanders, Ty Law ("We put it on them", SBXXXVI), Eric Allen, Al Harris, Charles Woodson, Asante Samuel, Fred Smoot and of course Quentin Jammer who's gotta have the best name for a defensive back. "Jammer" will get a workout this Saturday night, 8pm EST when the Indianapolis Colts visit during Wilcard weekend. However, I think the Chargers can score more points than the Colts because they have both threats in a running and passing game. I'm calling the Bolts... 37-31.
